Vista the new Win ME?
We probably won't upgrade until we have to. I'm happy with the XP setup that I have on this machine. When I buy a new machine (at the current rate that should be about June 2009), if Vista is standard, then I'll use it. Eggzackerly! It's not worth buying it retail. One of the other systems I checked which is *older* & running Ubuntu 6.06LTS (June 06) is at 0.4%. I intend updating it when the next LTS version is released....might upgrade the machine too. I didn't say it doesn't fragment, or that there's no performance penalty, or that it unfragments as it goes.

RAM upgrade
Microsoft had changed some of its "downgrade" policies in summer 2007 and appears to have missed updating some of its documents. Today, people who have already bought Vista systems have two choices to get XP instead. One is to buy an FPP XP license before June 30 and install it over Vista.
